    heard, a portion of the rebels are foreign jihadis. The problem is that we are not supporting those, or at least we're trying to not support them, so they are receiving support from Islamist elements in Saudi Arabia, Iraq, etc.
    However, given the 43 years of dictatorship, the other Sunnis in Syria (a majority of the population) may fall into a pattern of revenge if the army falls. If that happens, then the CW probably will get used in a last ditch effort by the Assads to stay in power.

    What would be best for  the people of Syria as well as the broader sunni/shia middle east from Lebanon to Iran would be a stalemate and cease fire including the list above. Even Hezbollah and Iran would benefit from this.

    You can't make this stuff up.
