  •  Obama strikes me as well-intentioned, but (6+ / 0-)

he's not a manager. The practical affairs in his household seem to be managed by Michelle. She also seems to be good at picking the right people for the job. Which is why I am inclined to suggest we should take a leaf from the Wallaces and nominate her for POTUS. The issue would be the economy and we'd have at least a triple, if not a home run.

    •  Hmmm...I'll get back to you on that... (26+ / 0-)

...but, I supported Hillary in the primaries in '08...and, if I end up voting for her in '16 (I don't know if I will at this point), it'll be along with about the same sentiments I had when I voted for the President's re-election last year. (And, that's not exactly along the lines of a "glowing endorsement.") Would Michelle Obama be a good President? I think she'd be more liberal than her husband. So, that's a start...but, we're talking about a that holds true for my sentiments about politics in this country, in general, these days.

      •  Treehouse Foods board member (27+ / 0-)

Mrs. Obama resigned just a week after Barack Obama announced his candidacy back in 2007.  Her being a board member of an anti-union Wal-mart supplier was seen as a liability especially since Hillary Clinton already under fire on the campaign trail and was being questioned about her role as a Wal-mart board member twenty years ago.

As for her being more liberal, Obama hasn't set the bar very high.  Who gave us Arne Duncan, the neoliberal corporate school "reformer?"  He was introduced to President Obama in a pick up basketbal game by his college teammate and good friend Craig Robinson, Michelle Obama's brother.  Her children have never gone to public school, they attended the U of Chicago lab schools as do Rham Emanuel's children and the movers and shakers of Chicago.

There is really nothing in Michelle Obama's record or acquaintances that makes me believe she would be a liberal or progressive in any meaningful economic sense.

      •  The Clinton's are no better than the Obamas (10+ / 0-)

Hell, Clinton is more responsible for the financial crisis than anyone except maybe Reagan.  Federal Govt budget surpluses are absolutely ruinous to the private economy.  Its simple national accounting.  The Federal Govt's budget deficit is the private sector's budget surplus, and vice versa.  So when the budget is in surplus, the Govt is destroying that much in private financial wealth.  Not to even mention the finnancial deregulation that took place under Clinton's watch.

        •  My view on Mr. Clinton and why I think (5+ / 0-)

he hesitated to completely trash the middle, working and poor classes during his tenure was because he personally was at one time dirt poor.  That was the "safety" during his presidency between his neoliberal and conservative economic team and the American people.

I don't think that we have that kind of insulation with either of the Obamas.  I think that concepts like poverty are very theoretical to them.

The other thing about Mr. Clinton was that he was politically very shrewd.  He was really, really sensitive about just how far he could push something and get away with it.  The Obama crowd have appeared to me to be pretty brazen and foolhardy  in their dealings ignoring the jobs crisis and the main street economy.  The 2010 election was a direct result of that political malpractice.

The Obama Administration's response to Main Street and the American People's economic needs has been underwhelming at best and extremely disappointing at worst.  AND it turns out that their economic plan has really kind of sucked for the average American.  Trickle down economics doesn't work.

When are we finally going to get real?

    •  Doubtful. Power corrupts. (0+ / 0-)

That's not to say Michelle Obama is corrupt, but the poison of a thousand snake bites from the DC snake pit, having lived there as long as she has, has undoubtedly gotten into her veins.

Though I don't follower her actions closely enough to be able to say whether or not she's one of the few with natural antibodies.

There's also the factor, and this applies to Hillary as well, that she'll be subject to her husbands opinion. And, well, I don't trust that much these days.
