have some magical insight that everyone else lacks, or are you referring purely to political propriety with no concern for actual reality. I think the presumption should be that this is a predictable false flag attempt by the rebels to get the US to hit their enemy. We need pretty overwhelming evidence to the contrary, not a bunch of hand waving and dubious tips.

That Poland did not commence an artillery barrage against Germany that the Nazis claimed was the reason why they invaded Poland. But I don't believe there was such an artillery barrage even absent definitive proof.  I believe that Germany's invasion of Poland, which started World War II, was naked aggression. I don't have definitive proof that what the Germans said was inaccurate but I have good reason to believe so.

None of us is privy to all of the information that goes into decisions. And few of us are even interested in researching the information that is available. One of the best ways to determine the reality of asserted facts is to listen to what people who have been privy to that information say. And in this case all parties say the same thing.

subjected to a one-sided sales pitch bought the product.  Or at least all those who felt the need to make a pronouncement about it which you then chose to cite.  Relying on hearsay or blind faith in authority and their secret omniscience is a recipe for repeated disaster.

It was not until two full days after the Nazis invaded Poland that Britain and France declared war despite the existing guarantee both powers had made to Poland in the spring. So the issue of the artillery fire is not really relevant. The British and French demanded that the Germans pull back their troops, and only when this was repeatedly refused did the declarations of war follow.
If there is convincing proof that Assad's regime ordered and carried out the attack, the Administration should publish the information so we, as citizens of a Republic, can judge for ourselves. If they do not, if they rely merely upon "trust us", they will get the result in Congress they deserve.
