  •  ...I believe the new Colorado law will... (9+ / 0-)

    ...be repealed.

In California, as you know, the northern counties are succeeding to for the 52nd state (let's see if they do) all because of proposed gun laws by the Dems.

There is a gun registry. The NRA has it. Every single gun purchased is "registered" with the NRA (not with any government agency). Every time a person takes a gun class, they are registered by the NRA.

People don't know this. The NRA goes nuts about guns being registered YET they themselves are doing it. They know who buys guns, bullets and takes classes in gun safety. Hummm...how did they convince those that sell guns and bullets to do the very thing they scream about?

I believe they are doing this to create a potential "sectik army"...

    •  In CA, a goodly chunk of the population of (7+ / 0-)

those northern counties has been all up for secession for decades if not longer, about water, about taxes, about clouds, you name it. The "State of Jefferson" signs abound and mant are weather blasted and rotting. This latest outcry is simply that, the latest excuse for the latest indignant rant that, in reality, is about their lack of political clout because they have very low populations.

That, in its essence, is fascism--ownership of government by an individual, by a group, or by any other controlling private power. -- Franklin D. Roosevelt --

a registry "because the NRA does it", is the same as arguing that it's OK for the govt to watch and record your internet traffic because Google does it.

Those who would sacrifice liberty for security deserve neither.

    •  The NRA's own extremist positions will doom ... (3+ / 0-)

      ... it eventually.

This diary's excellent foundation is that none of the Bill of Rights is absolute. Yet an absolutist position is one of the two key arguments that opponents of gun regulation rely on in virtually every conversation on the subject.

The other is that gun regulation won't - and cannot possibly be - effective. But no one argues that in order to have laws regulating cars and drivers, the law must prevent all "accidents", all reckless and intentional misuses of cars.

I'm pessimistic about the prospects for effective gun regulation only in the short run. The game is very much worth all the candles it will take.

2014 IS COMING. Build up the Senate. Win back the House : 17 seats. Plus!
