Registration has been used, repeatedly, for confiscation.
It has been used in GB, Australia & was attempted in California.
Gun controllers often use Australia as a model of what they envision.
It is disingenuous to suggest that it wouldn't be used for confiscation or for gun bans when
    a) that is exactly what many gun controllers explicitly say they want to use it for
    b) Your own listed suggestion #10 is a gun ban
    c) This diary was Republished by a group called "Repeal or Amend the Second Amendment"
    d) There is a sitting Senator that said "If I could have gotten 51 votes in the Senate of the United States for an outright ban, picking up every one of them . . . Mr. and Mrs. America, turn 'em all in, I would have done it."

#10) This is already done. Full-Auto is for all practical purposes illegal.
You are asking for the banning of objects that are currently legal.
    The answer is 'no'.
I don't think it is reasonable to demand that innocent people should have their liberty curtailed because of the crimes of murderers.
Especially when the item in question (semi-auto rifles) is used in less than half as many murders as bare hands are.

Those who would sacrifice liberty for security deserve neither.
