An we both use our UNSC vetoes to further those interests, sometime cynically.

I urge the president to work with Russia to resume the Geneva discussion with the objective of seeking a cease fire the orderly resignation of Assad, and the removal of all CW under UN supervision.

If that fails, then we look for other options, but We need to be able to say that International mechanisms in place for over 60 years have truly failed, not just that we couldn't get the International mechanisms to approve what we want to do

    •  the UN itself needs to be fixed (0+ / 0-)

It is utterly idiotic to allow five nations who happened to win a war 75 years ago to maintain literal veto power over everything the rest of the world decides to do.

The UN was deliberately and intentionally designed to be undemocratic, and to do nothing at all that the "world powers" did not want done.

      It's time to change that.

No nation deserves veto power in the UN.  Not even us.
