Once again, an argument of "I don't know what he stood to gain, therefore there must not have been any reason" as if you are the some total of all human knowledge.  Bill O'Reilly doesn't understand tides.  That doesn't mean there's no explanation.

Then there's the Obama = Bush line and the CT theory that the US, French, German and ISraeli governments are conspiring with NPR, the Financial TImes, BBC, and several others news outlets to fabricate all the facts surrounding the attack.

And you wonder why a call outdiary is needed?

Here, of course, the reasons for using CW are twofold:

Conventional weapons had utterly failed to stop the rebel advances from the eastern neighborhoods on Damascus while the bulk of the army was in Homs (see, detailed knowledge of actual dynamics are nice).  Furthermore, Assad had gotten away with small scale attacks on several instances prior and in fact it seems this was supposed to be a small scale attack as well, but someone used full strength Sarin, not the diluted munitions the regime had been using.

Second, gas is a perfect weapons for terrorizing the civilian population into dropping support for the rebels our of fear.

Finally, the suggestion that the rebels gassed 46 of their own fighters is bizarre and furthermore there is virtually no facts to support it.

So, here again, we have people who can't tell the difference between Iraq and Syria (which are completely different) and between Bush and Obama, and THAT is the sum of the facutal argument.
