  •  MFP: The last caretaker. (6+ / 0-)

He's dead now, so I can use his name. Kevin. He was Dad's stepson. The greater problem was that he systematically financially stripmined Dad and stole his identity, then died before he could be prosecuted.

The lesser problem is that he didn't properly cook, and so instead of groceries he filled the cabinets with random junk. Like an entire large trash bag full of plastic travel mugs.

Which random junk I am having to clean out at twenty minutes til one in the morning so that I can put away all my groceries and clear the counters, which has to happen so the supper dishes can get washed, and THAT is required for me to start precooking the meat in the fridge.

And my feet are very sore now and I am low on spoons. I may have to drop the job halfway and start again when I wake up. Ugh.

When you come to find how essential the comfort of a well-kept home is to the bodily strength and good conditions, to a sound mind and spirit, and useful days, you will reverence the good housekeeper as I do above artist or poet, beauty or genius.
