  •  People won't believe us the next time (0+ / 0-)

we make threats about something that has nothing to do with us and they will assume that we will not start a war.

There are good reasons to go to the UN and push hard for their involvement because of the sarin, but that is no reason for us to get involved in a civil war that we do not understand and cannot resolve.

Americans can make our country better.

    •  "next time"? I don't believe us now! (6+ / 0-)

that is, after all the previous wars and the phony reasons for said wars, why would any country think the U.S. is involved in a humanitarian cause? Especially when explosives are involved?

Dear NSA: I am only joking.

    •  But, it does have something to do with us (0+ / 0-)

And, if others don't believe us and do bad things because they don't think we will get involved, then it will cause bigger problems for us.

No one suggests we can resolve the Syrian conflict, but that really isn't the motive or the aim of the proposed action. I'm not saying there's no chance it will head down that road, but neither can you say it will. What we know is that is not the current proposal.

Not without proof from someone else.

You may think that. I couldn't possibly comment.-- Francis Urqhart

    •  really? after we have waged wars covertly and (0+ / 0-)

overtly all over the planet that anyone doubts we will wage war?
In fact it's hard to find time in our history when we are not either directly waging war (s) or supporting military actions.

In fact how many people are aware of the big uptick in Drone bombings in Yemen in the last few weeks? There always seems to be more warfare going on by us than the general public knows about.

      Wars R Us.
