But kids are lazy and/or heavily distracted by video games (including these smart phone games), facebook, instagram, tumblr, snapchat, etc. So our kids may have to learn one day how brutal globalization is.
Dad-gummit, kids these days with their rap music and their rock-em sock-em robots! Back in my day we churned butter for 12 hours a day in school and called it AP!

Maybe widespread poverty alongside school budgets being slashed for literally decades has more to do with it than Angry Birds on their smartphones. That is, if they have a smartphone, and if they live in a poor area with shitty schools, they don't.

And I just gotta ask. Romney? Seriously? I actually remember you and your posts. Well, not so much your posts, but I remember seeing you around. I myself was quite conflicted about voting for Obama again and even was set on not voting for awhile, but then Romney... Damn. Mitt fuckin' Romney.

As for common-sense "moderates".... Well, we've got plenty of "moderates" in the party, but common sense is pretty lacking. All the things you listed there falls pretty squarely into the Radical Librul Hippie Progressive faction of the party. Welcome back.

Banking on the American people to be able to sort all this out and declare the adult in the room the winner is a very big bet. -Digby

    •  Yes, poverty is why kids fail in school, not (7+ / 0-)

because there's anything wrong with the schools.

The very poverty that the guy who this guy voted for (and people like him) have exacerbated over the past generation to obscene levels in the face of huge wealth accumulation for the top 1% or so.

      Pretty insulting, really.

    •  Romney was the least bad alternative. (0+ / 0-)

I'm still not an Obama fan. He's done some great things but he's just not a natural leader. He tends to lead from behind.

I hated and still hate Gingrich, Rick Santorum, and Rick Perry. I cannot say now that I ever hated Obama in any sense of the word.

We need common-sense moderates running the country. People who support workers and want to end the U.S.'s status as the country with the highest percentage of it's population in correctional facilities.

We don't need any more war. If we're going to fight some bad guys, let's clean up the crime cartels in Mexico before we even think about an "unbelievably small" airstrike in Syria.

What will Secretary Kerry say next, "Our strike on Syria will be so small, Bashar Al-Assad won't even know we were there."?

Kerry has proven that he can't handle a job that Hillary actually handled much better. Obama should replace Kerry with someone else.
