    the only duty we have as teachers outside our classrooms is to be in the hallway to encourage students to move along.  We have other people in the halls the rest of the time.  At the beginning of the day it gives us a chance to greet students whom we do not teach that day (we have double length periods every other day) which helps to keep continuity.  I do not mind it.
