    In both cases the US didn't simply say that the regime in question was too disgusting to continue in power, and that we were going to do what we thought was right and that was the end of it. Instead, out of some weird regard for a fiction called international law and a quasi-fiction called the international community, they lied about WMD while in Syria they lie about the obvious US goal of removing Assad from power.  Personally I'd like a more honest US policy of laughing at "international law" that only protects the worst actors, and at "international community" that does the same thing.  

    As for the diary, obviously it's a Munich moment insofar as anything in the past says anything about the present.  We say that something's absolutely intolerable, and when someone goes and does it anyway we don't do anything about it.  Sorry if it makes you feel bad.
