    The first job is usually the shittiest. He had to get experience somewhere. My first job was the shittiest I ever had. The CEO was a prick I still have nightmares over 35 years later.  

    I quit my job after I lined up new companies to rep for in the middle of the 1981-82 recession. It was still tough as hell but within a year I was making 10x the amount at a very young age.

    According to people I know in many industries there is a huge shortage of good independent reps out there. Look at the top job openings and you will find sales rep constantly near the top no matter how the economy is. It is a great career. It's just different  than most other professions.

    Getting fired is a rite of passage. He is now a grizzled veteran ready for the big time.
