  •  Actually I think it just ups the pressure on Assad (6+ / 0-)

    IF there is a rogue commander, Assad needs to deliver that guy to international justice, admit his control of CW is not adequate and move positively toward international monitoring of those weapons.

    Failing any of those responsible actions on Assad's part, Assad is then taking accountability for the attack, even if it was a rogue commander.

    And therefore I hope it makes it more likely that Assad works something out.  But until there is real movement on his part, I don't think it alters the US options.

      personnel represent Assad. In fact, any Syrian Army personnel are an extension of Assad and his regime.

      This is all on Assad no matter how you cut it.
