is a "clever joke" and not misogyny? Misogyny means hatred of women and that includes violence towards them.

I love (by love I mean hate) how much  liberal men see no problem with violence towards women.
"lighten up!" "It's just a joke!"

A tied up man would have been more controversial why?

Remember folks, men are human, and us women are just women.

    •  Okay, I've been thinking of what (0+ / 0-)

would have been in the spirit of the original joke.

How about a severed human head rolling out of a sack?  Male adult head if that matters.

I'm trying to think of some way to save the tastelessness of the joke without having it be construed in an anti-woman way, so I can separate the complaint about tastelessness from the complaint about violence against women.

joking about a very real issue, and great comedy always punches up, not down on people who are already below you.
And fwiw, it would also be unacceptable if it was a male too, headless or otherwise.

        •  Then that seems unreasonable to me. (0+ / 0-)

You are, then, arguing against tasteless humor, and that's a matter of tactfulness and sense of humor, not politics.
