    from the NSA scandals.

They can even say the (alleged) evidence for Assad's responsibility for the chem attacks comes from the NSA's valuable programs.

The influence of the [executive] has increased, is increasing, and ought to be diminished.

If this disarmament gambit works, Syria's war will boil back down to the background where Libya, Egypt, Tunisia and the rest of the Arab Spring (and the Turkish Fall) are lying ignored by the American media and our people. Which is probably better for everyone, if the American military also leaves those countries to their own people.

But the NSA crimes are just going to get forced back into the headlines, worse and worse. Snowden and Greenwald are still releasing worse stories. Foreign countries like Brazil are just starting to raise a ruckus that won't go away.

I don't give the government credit for the kind of control it would take to bring the Syria crisis to a head for NSA coverup convenience. Especially since it's not working.

discussion even now, though of course they have managed to drown it out somewhat.

The party of Kennedy is also the party of Eastland. The party of Javits is also the party of Goldwater. Where is our party? Where is the political party that will make it unnecessary to march on Washington?

But they did quite a lot at considerable cost and risk not to intervene, and (so far) have succeeded. Hard to base a distraction conspiracy theory on that actual evidence that is opposite to the theory.
