although I believe that you believe it is true.

Honestly, Ray, there are dozens of people here who regularly write diaries from a position that is substantially similar to yours, and yet they manage to avoid getting routinely tangled up in these little infinitely recursive spirals of meta. You may want to give some thought to investigating how they do it.

reaching people with my writing.  Also, just in a few months over 400 people have signed up to my email newsletter, so I'm pretty happy with the results.

I love this place, and I enjoy writing and interacting smart people, with honest interlocutors.

You think you get called names, brother, try being me for a few days. I've been called things that'd curl your nose hairs.  Sometimes I give it back and sometimes I don't. What I almost never do is get trapped in these little pedantic and legalistic squabbles that seem to follow you around wherever you go. I don't mistake snark for personal attacks. I don't whine about genuine personal attacks. I don't claim to welcome "honest discussion" and then go out of my way to construe people who disagree with me--and only people who disagree with me--as not being honest. I don't use the site rules as a weapon. I certainly don't tattle on people to the site administrators several times a day, or threaten to.

Most people here don't do any of those things, Ray. And most people here don't get involved in flame wars everywhere they go. There is a connection. I hope you learn to see that.
