I asked you to back up your assertion.

    Who's been disappeared?

anyone had been disappeared after 2009, merely that some had been disappeared.  You inserted a condition in my statement to suit yourself.  Clearly the NADAA allows indefinite detention without charge,  Obama signed it into law.  So I don't really think I have to point out names (after all, they may not make the local news), but merely that it has happened, and the law makes it permissable, though still not right.

So you can go along happily pretending it won't happen here, we are way better than that.  But it is legal.  And if it is in the law, it will happen.

requires the detention of combatants as prisoners of war (and thus subject to the Geneva Conventions) and is not applicable within US borders. For BOTH those reasons they do not support your contentions.

US citizens, and hold them without trial, as prisoners,  and we ignore the Geneva Convention when we want to, delaying visits, ignoring recommendations, etc.

Keep clapping.  It will all be fine.

          •  You know that "keep clapping" bullshit (6+ / 0-)

            is HRable right?

But thanks for showing that when you cannot support your claims you A) backpedal, B) Make more unsupported claims, and C) resort to personal attacks.

            We're done here.

Turn me in to the admins if you think its a violation of the rules.  You put in a proviso I didn't, so I failed to support nothing.  I pointed out that we passed a law under Obama, that in my opinion violates basic human rights that allows us to capture and hold a US citizen without charges, trial or any recourse to be removed from custody but the whim of the people that put them in custody.  You claimed it was no big deal because some international convention we ignore would oversee the captivity without ever doing anything to secure the release or a fair trial for that person.   It is a massive human rights abuse that was legalized in this country.

I supported my claims.  You have done nothing to refute what I put up except to say what the law allows on indefinite detention is not that bad.  Its worse in Russia.   That doesn't give us clean hands, which was the original contention you have never spoken to yet.
