  •  RJ - I imagine that they have a blanket (8+ / 0-)

confidentiality statement of some sort that is broad enough to include this incident. But common sense should tell any employee that you can't take a confidential company document like a receipt, with credit card information and customer names, and post it on the Internet, regardless of how reprehensible the comments are on the receipt.

Granted this is awful, but I let all kinds of stuff slide during my employment that I otherwise might make a big deal about.

When you work with the public, the public can be assholes. You just have to shrug it off and keep working. Escalate to your management and let them handle it.

But if you let idiots goad you into doing stupid things, you are letting them win. Would a doctor, lawyer, or some other professional have posted something like this?

A person serving people food is going to have just as much personal investment in their career as a doctor or lawyer. Why society expects someone making minimum wage to be just as professional as someone pulling down $300,000 a year is beyond me.

First they came for the farm workers, and I said nothing.

        •  The diary mentions that this woman is studying (4+ / 0-)

to be a nurse, so she clearly has some understanding of the issue of confidentiality.

This person is apparently studying to be a nurse, where discretion of this nature is a critical portion of the job.
