  •  A question for You then (3+ / 0-)

If Darden had taken this and turned it around as an overall PR move for themselves - would YOU be more or less inclined to go to a Darden restaurant

    Darden's cost - $45.00

The company could have been handed PR magic that would cost them literally nothing with a significant potential 'earned media' PR coup

but -- we will never know - because that was the 'path not taken' - rather it was 'knee jerk' social media over sharing

Like I said, I often look at my nieces FB posts and think - that is a stupid thing to post

    •  If wishes were horses .... (0+ / 0-)

      n/t

      •  Why we can't have nice things (0+ / 0-)

You are probably right - I have no reason to think that Darden Restaurants is reasonable

        but Your reply of

        If wishes were horses

Highlights, imo , that this country really doesn't deserve nice things -

Cynicism and indecency abound - we are the society that we make for ourselves

        •  Not cynicism, but realism. (0+ / 0-)

          There is a difference.

Cynicism is "an inclination to believe that people are motivated purely by self-interest".

Realism is "interest in or concern for the actual or real, as distinguished from the abstract, speculative".

I look at the evidence of things that have happened in the past. I have never heard of a company doing what you wish that Darden Restaurants would have done. Therefore, I don't believe that they should be given a chance to so something that they have never done since time immemorial.

          That's not cynicism.

When companies start doing what you suggest without coercion, then I'll go along with you that the server should have waited. But I'm not holding my breath.

P.S. I also think this "over-sharing" you mention is irrelevant to this incident.
