    me...us....and let it sink in a bit.

    Take a great idea and build a belief system out of it, then refuse to change any of it...not good.

    Loved Chris Black (well, love him anyway) as Rufus, the 13th apostle.  Lots and lots of truth in what he had to say!

    It's going to get me stoned (and not in a good, happy to hang out with you, pass the cheetos way) one of these days, but I am in the habit of telling people:

    It's just a book.  It's a pretty good book, but it's just a book.  And a book written by committee, at that.  
    There's some good stuff in there...most of it having to do with treating each other well.  Ignore that at your peril.

    The rest of it?  Just to take up time on long winter nights.  'Cause if you're not paying any attention to the part about "Love one another" it doesn't matter a hill of beans about any of the other stuff.

    I do wish more of these right wingers 'got' that part.

    We cannot call ourselves a civilised society if we refuse to protect the weakest among us.
