  •  I live in a predominately Republican neighborhood, (0+ / 0-)

and also one with alot of poor, underemployed people.  Note I said UNDEREMPLOYED not unemployed.  Most people here have a job of some sort and most are struggling to get by.  I was in the local dollar store last night and overheard a woman talking to a man about her husband being laid off his job, and how she made him go apply for medicade and food stamps.  She said she wasn't going to let his pride and republican values keep her from feeding her children.  She talked about how the employer had laid him and many others off without any warning about what was coming.  How he had worked there for years, gave his all to the company, and now he was without work. I didn't hear what company it was, but she was very upset about it.  As I listened I thought, another republican that votes against himself.  There are so many here in my area.  I have tried to convince them that they are hurting themselves, that things aren't going to get better if they elect another, so called better republican. I remember when this state was mostly democrate.  It was a good place to live, people were doing well.  Now it just sucks and gets worse all the time.
