    which they had on the home surveillance was enough probable cause to search the car.  Car searches do not require a warrant in the same way home searches do.

    Two things really mystify me: 1) Why didn't they just ask Zimmerman if they could search a car?  Mr. I am a friend to the police would have said yes and if he did not, that would have told them something as well.  Cops are experts at getting people to consent to car searches without them even realizing they have a choice.  Here they did not even try, even when dealing with a violent person, who was standing near his car, and an allegation of gun play.  I have never seen cops turn away from an opportunity to search someone's car.

    2) Why on earth would O'Mara volunteer the information that Zimmerman was wearing the gun when the cops said he wasn't?  Is he just an idiot or does he want to get disbarred?
