  •  Of Course It's Possible (4+ / 0-)

I quit drinking 19 years ago but I can be around booze without drinking. I can also go the speed limit with no problem. If privacy is to be respected, even in the digital age, then it needs to be done consciously.

The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which.

The more I explore the goings on of the internet the less certain that I can make use of the convenience of the technology without compromising privacy. It's not just the government, but private companies using data for profit.

it's paper or electrons hardly matters when the topic is the right to communicate without either business people or government inhibiting and/or stalking us. And stalking it is.

For business, I'd favor a law that says 'you use my data to make money, you, first, get my permission, 2nd, you pay me each time it's used.'

For government: probable cause presented to a judge for a warrant, and nothing else.

All the storing of data: flush the data immediately. Google searches, emails, whatever. The Stalkers have pushed the myth that all we do is public and public forever, but that's because of the way they do things. It's not a law of nature.

What I question is the ability to know if the laws are being enforced with the continuous changes in technology.

Data Protection officer. Plus one for the nation. So we'd need something along those lines.

Seems all of Europe has an rough equivalent since the first German state instituted the idea back nearly 40 years ago! Yet we've never heard the idea mentioned in the US.

Our government has put the 'mock' in 'Democracy.'
