    Ultimately it's all connected, and our own well being rises and falls with the well being of the entire ecosystem.
    A while back I came up with another way to express this idea-- I call it "The Myth of the Individual".

    Obviously, we do exist as individuals, so in that sense it's not a total myth. But our individual fates are not separate from the state of the whole system. In the context of climate change and the rest of the sustainability crisis, it's more useful to think of our individual selves as manifestations of a whole system-- the web of life-- than to imagine that the whole system is somehow nothing but a collection of separately-existing individuals.
