Except, the crimes I'm talking about aren't over 100 years old or more. The cover-up accusations of destruction of records is only 15 years old. The refusal to release records is ongoing. The man who was said to order them is today a major figure advising the government on biological warfare topics. I won't give his name as the story on it is being written, and I don't wish to preempt myself!

How many books are there on slavery? How many on the killing of Native Americans? How many on the Holocaust? On the genocide in Rwanda?

How many books in English on the use of chemical warfare in China? Answer: Zero

How many books in English on Unit 731, at least in print? A handful. Before 1989 there were zero.

I would hope you think about the extent of the depravity contained in these crimes, and the meaning of the amnesty involved, and what the US did with this information.

Until the US takes affirmative steps to address its own crimes, most recently around torture, illegal war in Iraq, using chemical and other kinds of toxic weapons in Iraq, etc., then they have no authority worth listening to about matters of war and peace.

This is especially true as there is plenty of evidence already on the record that the story of CW in Syria is not what the US claims it is, from the number of supposed casualties to what the weapons actually were, to who ordered what.
