  •  US can't really push ICC referral, can it? (5+ / 0-)

since the US isn't a signatory or ratifier or whatever to the ICC?

IMO, one of the really positive things that could come out of this -- but I haven't seen much on it so far -- would be an appreciation of the ICC process in dealing with alleged "crimes against humanity." It might even convince Obama and the Senate that the US should join the rest of the civilized world and sign onto it. Probably a pipe dream, but worth pushing for.

    •  We did on Sudan (and it stuck (9+ / 0-)

in John Bolton's craw, since he HATES the ICC).

BTW, we are a signatory (Clinton signed), although Bush "unsigned" (which has no status in international law).  In any case, the Senate refused to ratify in, I believe, 1999.  Candidate Obama indicated support for ratificaton, but there aren't the votes in the Senate, so he hasn't pushed the issue.

With the Decision Points Theater, the George W. Bush Presidential Library becomes the very first Presidential Library to feature a Fiction Section.
