    today for a anti-war demonstration like the Vietnam era?   We don't have the draft.

      daily napalming of children, the racist and anti-working class bias of the draft, and coming on the heels of and overall well integrated with the other mass movement of the times, the civil rights movement, the massive demographic of the post-war baby boomers coming of age.

      Those are all reasons that pop to mind.

        •  I was in many antiwar marches from Boston to DC (0+ / 0-)

          to Cleveland to New York. Participated in 2 or 3 huge demonstrations in DC, including the big ones in '69 and '71. The smell of tear gas around Columbus Circle comes to mind.
