As for the tool of the oligarchy, pretty much yes.  Not all of it but the oligarchy does control it and uses it to its advantage.

is consistent.  The evil dictator, WMDs, fear, danger, massacres, etc. and it sinks in to the general public who don't bother to read beyond the headlines.  There's plenty of truth but you have to read with an eye on the agenda.  Of course that's the same everywhere, alternative media also.  You have to learn to separate the wheat from the chaff.  It's like with Assad.  One thing very noticeable is how just about everybody prefaces their comments that Assad is an evil dictator.  Just like Gaddafi and Saddam.  But it's not like all these people have really studied Assad and what's he done and most refuse to rationalize the facts about U.S. actions such as Bush and a million dead in Iraq or Obama killing children with drones.

      •  Homogenization of the MSM (1+ / 0-)

Access, the Beltway Bubble, five major corporations now control most of the MSM, etc. all contribute to the homogenization of the MSM. Homogenization is also a case where the media has become lazy and does not dig into the real story, but accepts the talking points put out by political spokespersons.  In effect, it ends up making the MSM a tool of the PTB.  Call it propaganda or something less offensive, but the result is the same.  Much of the information leading to the truth gets obscured from the public as a result.
