  •  NPR needs to let go of Government funding (4+ / 0-)

    They'd be OK without it, and a lot less compromised.  The Federal cash stream comes at a very high cost, especially on the morning and evening drive-time programs.

    The downside is that NPR provides a radio outlet that isn't all NASCAR, preachers, and RW bloviators most everywhere in the country.  That policy may not survive the loss of federal funds.

      I'm with the freepers on defunding NPR and PBS too. Tax churches. End the fiction of "non-profit" status entirely for any organization that pays salaries to its leaders.

      Bit radical, I know, but most of the time "non profit" is code for "tax scam," and it's just as true on the left.

        ...the real difference between a church and say, a paint factory, these days.

        Both look pretty much the same, like building a business.
