    Despite Seaside being a huge moneymaker for the region, there are quite a few people there (particularly on the upper end of the income spectrum) who viewed it as a blight on their community (they particularly hated that the place was a magnet for the Jersey Shore-type crowd).  Don't be shocked if whatever is built in in Seaside's place ends up being a Riviera-type mix of luxury hotels and condos designed to bring in a decidedly upscale crowd.  Just saying.
