  •  Romney had "polls" too, the poll that matters is (13+ / 0-)

    on election day.

More than anything else we need to be truthful to ourselves and not kid ourselves.

The screaming headline on the front of the Dener Post that I was in the machine down at the post office said, "Hickenlooper's Next!!!"

That's our governor who is down in your "polls" due to signing gun control.

We need to be brutally honest and change the subject, guns are a proven loser.

and I have a lot for you...

        "It's the Economy, stupid"
Democrats get motivated to vote in times like these for Jobs and the Economy, because that's what they are directly up against.  Working people, the core constituency of the Democratic Party.

Can't you hear the Oligarch in the background, chuckling on his way to the bank,  as we Democrats once again squabble over which social issue is the Most Important?

You want Democrats to turn out?  Give us something to vote for that means something to the largest constituency that exists in this country, us folks that have to get up in the morning and go to work, or wish we could if there was a damn job available or an economy strong enough that one could go out and create one's own job.

Colorado thrives on its self-image of hardy individuals and the romance of Teh West;  the Dems there who decided to jump on the gun control national bandwagon that was rolling through last year were, imho, over-reaching, at least for some parts of Colorado.  As has been shown.

that we need to focus in the economy, but that doesn't mean we back away from critical social issues. remember when we were going to be dead in states with large catholic populations, because of choice and lgbt rights? or when we would have problems with latino voters, because of catholicism?

those measures polled well before they were passed. i don't know why that changed, but politically it wouldn't have mattered, as markos points out, if we'd gotten our people to the polls. we'll win those seats back, but meanwhile the democrats retain control, the new senate president is more passionate about gun laws than was morse, and the laws themselves are on the book.

          •  I hope ColoraDems learn from this (0+ / 0-)

and strive to keep what they have gotten.  Matters to me, because I'm yr neighbor to the south.
