The most dangerous airport (that I have experienced). San Diego, where I had a business for many years. As an AF vet and licensed pilot, I flew into SDO once a month for years with trepidation.

A single (too short runway for the biggest jets)...with office buildings almost above you on the port side... over a 4 or 5 story parking ramp THEY BUILT AT THE END OF THE LANDING RUNWAY in a fit of stupidity...then the hard reverse thrust and heavy braking to stop before sliding into the Pacific.

had that one beat. You flew between buildings that were so close you could make out if people were drinking Pepsi or Coke. They actually had a sign up that told the pilots when to turn and the turn was so sharp that you were almost sideways. It was one of the few times that I have been ascared while landing.

Garuda airlines in Indonesia was the other time. We hit the ground so hard while landing that the flight attendants cringed.

While speaking to a crew from Quantas in Hong Kong on that trip I was told that they are known in the industry as a horrible airline.

Of course the fact that I was in a bar with this crew pounding drinks for hours on end when they had a flight the next morning made me rething about ever flying Quantas. Their saving grace is that I have yet to meet an Ausie that couldn't hold their liquor.

Most of the people taking a hard line against us are firmly convinced that they are the last defenders of civilization... The last stronghold of mother, God, home and apple pie and they're full of shit! David Crosby, Journey Thru the Past.

I thought we were crashing. I was green when I got off that plane.

Your beliefs don't make you a better person. Your behavior does.
