  •  back when my sister lived in Kentucky (0+ / 0-)

near Lexington, she had a pet fainting goat.

For those who don't know, "fainting goats" have a genetic trait that causes them to lose control of their muscles and get all stiff-legged when they get excited (it's not just being scared or startled that does it--they also "faint" if they are given a favorite food or something else they really like). The youngsters fall over and lay there for a while till they recover; the older ones have learned not to fall over and just stand there paralyzed.

The "fainting" does not harm them. For humans, of course, it is immensely amusing, and the neighborhood kids would annoy poor "Chester" to no end by startling him to make him "faint".

But Chester was a great pet--always eager to go for a walk (after he recovered from his "faint").
