  •  The lack of logic is astounding (4+ / 0-)

As everyone knows, the number of people using SNAP since the economy crashed in 2008 has absolutely exploded.   If you take a deep breath and think about it logically, there are only two possible explanations for this:

    1.  The ripple effects of the crash - corporate bankruptcies, downsizings, unavailability of credit, etc. - knocked tens of millions of people from a position of being able to meet their own nutritional needs, to a position of needing assistance.

    2.  Tens of millions of people - without any coordination, leadership, communication on blog sites, etc. - simultaneously decided within the space of a couple of years:  "Hey, forget about the decades I've worked and supported myself, I'm going to voluntarily go on food stamps and take advantage of all that free food!"

That's it, those are the two possibilities.  The conservatives bashing the program can only do so based on possibility #2.  But possibility #2 is illogical - when does something like that ever happen?  Why would so many people act in concert in so short a time, when they had not done so at any point in the past?  It makes no sense.
