    and your family.

    About moving that Blazer -

when I moved from So. NM to ABQ some years ago, the moving co. I'd hired to move all my household stuff to move my Blazer - get this - inside the moving van, right along with my furniture and boxes etc. I don't think they charged me for it, either, or if they did it was at very little extra, because they had only me and maybe one other household and the rest of the van was empty.

It worked like a charm. All I had to do was take the car to a commercial scale and get a weight receipt for their records. Then they packed my stuff, loaded my car, I & my cat rode to Abq with a friend who was going that way, and my car was unloaded to my new driveway when I got there.

It's a little thing, but it might be something you could check into and let go of a little bit of the burden.

Good luck, and keep us posted.

    •  Hello Jan- Thank you :) (7+ / 0-)

Thank you so much for taking the time to read and respond to this diary, we appreciate you. :)

As well, I do appreciate your advice.  As a person who has worked for 8 years in auto transport in all aspects (except driving, no one on God's earth would want me to do that! HA!) I know that these things used to be allowable.

Now, however, this is considered a huge NO but the USDOT, fire hazard among other things.  Now there are specific transporters for enclosed transports and only those can be used.

Uhaul and other companies do have trailors that can be used but it's been mine and many other's experiences that these are often more costly that an actual transport.  I transported the same vehicle from SF, CA when my sister passed, to my Mom, it was 1100.00, but from Missouri to Greensboro, NC it's only about 600-650.00.  I was so happy to see that.  I don't have to pay broker's fees because I have access to Central Dispatch otherwise it would be about 750.00-800.00 so I can get that done way less expensive and I know all of the reputable transporters.  There is grace in the universe sometimes.

Anyway, the moving companies also are much to be reckoned with now.  So we just found that the expenses would be much lower doing it ourselves.  Thank you so much for your suggestions, we really do appreciate you so much.  Please keep us in your prayers, thoughts, meditations.

      Kind & Loving Regards,
      Jacqueline & Cheryl

I just I really lucked out on my move those many years. I had no idea it was so expensive to transport a vehicle.

Of  course I will keep shining the light for you. And if you can post a paypal address in the diary I will send a contribution. No need to thank me; I've received help myself when I needed it from the good Kossacks here. Last year the community helped me fix my badly leaking roof, for which I'm very grateful after this week of record rains in NM & CO.

lol!  It can be an interesting business especially when you're honest with people. lol!

Years ago when fuel was way more expensive, so many of these driver's just walked away from their trucks, their living because they just couldn't pay for it anymore.  It was so sad.  Now there are so many restrictions that I must admit were needed for the safety of the general public and the driver's themselves that there aren't alot of options.

Of course, we aren't trying to enclose her vehicle, we'll send it open container, it's far less expensive.  The costs I quoted above is current for that route.

Thank you so much, in advance for your donation.  I had my Mom put this information at the top of this diary.  The account for paypal is mehdique@aol.com.    Let me know if you need any other information.  lol!  I love "Kossacks" lol!  You'll never know how much we appreciate each of you. :)   (((( Jan))))
