    ...that rapidly escalating competition for resources means that the chance of transformational social or economic reform is dismal for the next 50 years and as remote as an enlightenment that triggers the US to socially distribute wealth more broadly in any significant way. Americans who are disadvantaged, in regions on the decline, or see themselves losing ground will need to rely on the fire in their own bellies and migrations, perhaps overseas, to see significant change within their own lifetimes. Otherwise, certitude is not my thing.
