  •  There aren't enough black people to defend against (5+ / 0-)

White supremacists and their guns. They have the numbers & they have the NRA on their side.

Not that black people want to start anything, please see
the extermination of the native Americans.  Exterminated  by the Feds, by the locals, not armed adequately, all to steal land....... It can happen again because Americans love killing. Evil rich white people own gun manufacturing.

    Why not exterminate black people?
Many people think we're a problem that can't be solved including one political party. We'll just be called terrorists (a bad hated people) because that is how American rolls.

You can pretend that killing us isn't about getting rid of us or making sure we behave like good dogs.....not gonna happen.

    •  I find the rising number of SYG killings (6+ / 0-)

to be truly terrifying. It really bothers me that it's so subjectively dependent on the shooter's perception of imminent threat.

Doesn't everyone feel afraid in a shoot out? That doesn't mean everyone should be justified to stand their ground.

    •  I know it's a bit off topic, but I'm really (4+ / 0-)

troubled about the police shootings solely on the basis of "I thought he was reaching for a gun."

Those shootings make me sick, and they have a strong racial and class bias. White guys in suits don't get shot because some cop "thought he was reaching for a gun."

      •  I'd uprate you both, if not NR'd (4+ / 0-)

a2nite, I'm stealing your comment in-part, and providing a link for the full comment in a soon to be published diary.

Editor's Note: This diary wraps important historical issues right around our biggest contemporary challenges. The author asks us to acknowledge our violent history and the way gun laws have been used to further racial discrimination, concluding hopefully with a comment about choosing dialogue over fear. -- LilithGardener

I hope the last 4 or 5 paragraphs you had planned become a followup diary.
