into the exchanges and expanded Medicaid. On Saturday I went to a meeting in which Medicaid was explained. Presently, Medicaid is farmed out to 7 different insurance companies, something that happened during the Richardson administration. Now, there will just be 4 insurance companies. They are Presbyterian, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, United Health Care, and Molina. A person from each gave a presentation on the "extras" their company offers.

The propaganda must be excellent, because the fear of this change was palpable. And, as explained, it's pretty straight-forward. Present Medicaid recipients will receive a letter telling them to be on the lookout for an orange envelope. That envelope will explain their choices and what they have to do once they make a choice. If they don't choose, they will be assigned a company. Open enrollment is between Oct 15 and December 2.

The new name for the program is Centennial, and all the information is on their website, both for Medicaid and the exchanges.

I know there will be glitches. There always are. But it seems they've got it under control, and are ready to roll.

This is important: Obamacare is for people who don't have insurance OR access to insurance, like through a spouse's employer's plan. Hopefully, over time, the OR part will be changed.
