    of certainty. Before we didn't.

(btw, did you know that Adnan Salo, and Adnan Silu, the former head of Assad's CW division and in charge of the CW program, respectively, went over to the rebels last year?)

It still doesn't make sense that Assad would order use of CW. Certainly Assad is well aware that the US is trying to do everything overthrow him, especially since Obama's regime change speech was delivered in Turkey past May 11.

Although he's a desperate, insane, mass-murderer, he ain't stupid. The arithmetic of "have US degrade my air force and military vs. beat back a small rebel force with sarin" shouldn't be hard to work out.

It is open-source knowledge that German intelligence points to a lower-order officer ordering the attack; and they have repeated refusals by Assad to use CW on tape.

One might wonder why, when a lead UN investigator reported in May 2013 that it likely that it was rebels had used sarin in Aleppo, that no threats to bomb were issued.

Especially since these rebels are either actual al-qaeda or announced affiliates. In fact, Jane's just reported that nearly half the rebels are jihadis.

That rebels would use sarin if they can get their hands on it, apart from Aleppo and, it seems, Homs, is underscored by the recent Turkish indictment of Syrian rebels for trying to acquire 10 tons of chemicals which can be used to make sarin.

This follows on Syrian rebels being caught at the Turkey-Syria border with 2kg of sarin

Oddly, these stories, like al-Zawahari's (anyone remember the nuts-and-bolts planner of 9/11, and, now, very active leader of al-qaeda?) call for jihadis to flock to Syria, got no coverage in US media.

I guess there's a good reason for neither threats nor bombings of al-qaeda in Syria. I just can't think of them.

Al-Qaeda has assassinated several FSA rebel commanders in northern Latakia province in recent weeks, and locals say they fear this is part of a jihadist campaign to gain complete control of the territory.

As well as being better armed and tougher fighters, ISIL and Jabhat al-Nusra have taken control of much of the income-generating resources in the north of the country, including oil, gas and grain

The numbers of atrocities the jihaddists commits are increasing, including executing captured enemies via throat-slitting in front of audiences of children. Their intimidation tactics are increasing everywhere.
