    •  Or I could just give you a preview of tomorrow's (12+ / 0-)

Am I addicted to photography? Well I got invited to take a tour of the High Line before it opened to the public. Before as in 5:45 AM and my answer was yes. But I also knew I'd be walking with some of the nicest people I'd ever met and that helped in the early to rise department.

These pictures are chronological so you can feel the coming of the day.

6 AM on the High Line

This first shot 6 AM on the High Line was the first time I ever took a shot at 6,400 ISO. Not to shabby. But it looks like we caught one of the VESIcare characters from the commercial taking a predawn shower.

This Ain't No Party, This Ain't No Disco

Life During Wartime So happy to get a photo of the High Line billboard art without cars in the foreground parking lot. In that quiet setting the view seemed so post-punk rock MTV era that the rest of my walk had a Talking Heads, Dire Straight and B-52’s soundtrack. Turns out it actually is from the 1980’s. The art is called Walking and is by Gilbert & George.

      Tenth Avenue Before Dawn

Tenth Avenue Before Dawn Has it come to this? I'm ripping myself off now.

      Sweet Tunnels

Sweet Tunnels Where the High Line passes over the Chelsea Market and once passed through the world wide supply of Oreo Cookies!

      Empty Chairs at Empty Tables

Empty Chairs at Empty Tables The Chelsea Market Passage is still a sweet spot. The tortas being served during business hours in this tunnel are to die for.

      False Dawn Eerie Passage

I called this one False Dawn Eerie Passage because of the history of this abandoned pier. Behind that steel structure is the old Cunard dock. The place where 705 survivors from the Titanic got off the RMS Carpathia and first touched dry land.

      Morning Glory

Morning Glory Morning comes on fast at the High Line.

      First Light Down Gansevoort Street

First Light Down Gansevoort Street The southernmost point of the High Line.

      Chelsea Morn

Chelsea Morn on the High Line.

      Morning Reflections

Morning Reflections here a western facing church wall is filled with light from the reflections coming off El Anatsui.

      Getty Premium Unleaded

Getty Premium Unleaded Time to go down stairs and gas up. The Getty station on Tenth Avenue and Twenty-Fourth Street.

      Fill Er' Up

Fill Er' Up The meek shall inherit the earth but I’ll close out with a feather in my cap.

      Tenth Avenue Sunday Morning

It is good to have friends in high places. The photo above, that is not from Saturday morning but a Sunday morning from last month. It was featured on The High Line Blog as the Photo of the Week: A City Moment and when The Friends of the High Line shared it a Facebook the picture received 1,727 likes. Anyone here feel like making it 1,728?
