  •  Just Installed a Wireless Print/Fax/Scan (6+ / 0-)

of a product whose name resembles ache pee.

Its instructions only cover the first setup of the printer from the first computer. You have to improvise to figure out how to run it on additional computers on the network.

One --same OS as another that ran it just fine-- would fail early in the driver installation process, giving no useful information and not leaving a log file anybody could use to troubleshoot.

I spent 90 minutes on chat with support, till finally he stopped trying to use the product installation and instead we ran the Windows install (which consistently fails on one computer with another make printer we have) which in our case worked. Ache Pee provides no information at all on doing an install that way.

We have 3 different windows and there are all kinds of problems getting access into folders and files between them on the lan.

Microsoft windows team must be the most dysfunctional family in technology. From using their product it's obvious there are a lot of groups that aren't on the best speaking terms with others.

    •  Only Microsoft never asked me to do this (8+ / 0-)

I couldn't get into iTunes because I couldn't remember my password and the Apple help people couldn't help me because they said I had never installed my security questions (I had, but that's a later story). I have no other Apple equipment. The Apple tech guy suggested I call Microsoft and ask THEM if they could help me retrieve my password and then call Apple, ask for the tech guy and tell him what Microsoft had told me. You know I didn't do that.

Next time I called Apple (several months later), lo and behold my security questions were there, and I changed my password.

      •  I've Lost Itunes Permanently. (4+ / 0-)

It crashed during an update, and they have no Windows utitility that can force an install/update where there are problems, nor a utility that can wipe it out.

Evidently it puts thousands of entries into the registry. Maybe someday if I get back to deleting 100 iTunes entries at a time from registry, I might be able to do a clean install after some number of months.
