    I don't know how that doesn't fit the definition of sane for an individual right.

    Yes there are a few gun horders skewing the average.  But my grandfather owned a rifle, shotgun and pistol.  That's not crazy.

      ... rest of the world. It is crazy. It's insane. Where do you think all the handguns come from that are used in crimes every day in this country?

        US auto related deaths are much higher than the rest of the world as well.  Should we ban easy access to cars until US auto deaths match those of Belgium or something?

        No I'm not a fan of guns being passed around like toys.  Personally I wouldn't mind seeing better gun registry and tracking, so that when one is used in a crime, we know where it came from.

        But you handicap your own cause.  By puting the focus on the gun and actively campaigning to limit ownership, you ensure that any registry will be seen as a path to confiscation.

        If you want a gun registry, then the individual right to own guns must be fully respected by the entire political spectrum.  And that just isn't going to happen.
