    base was never a viable economic model. It's done/is being done... out of spite.

    ...with the government and they believe, up to now, that their individual customers are pushovers.

    Yes, the federal and local governments give the telecoms myriad tax breaks in zoning and other incentives. But the amount they receive from the government doesn't even come close to the amount of revenue they derive from selling their products and services to the public.

    The telecoms' collective disregard for their customers' privacy concerns; their failure to challenge these government requests for unfettered data collection is completely antithetical to traditional business models.

    The telecoms have determined that customers are so addicted to their products and services that we won't object. They've made the calculation that we won't protest this blatant exploitation and disregard.

    And, apparently... they're right.

    Wake. Up. People.
