  •  Their current activities are probably ok. (7+ / 0-)

All the intelligence indicates that they haven't started making a bomb, or even bomb-gradue enriched uranium.

If the outcome of is involves them doing what they've been doing and not going further, that's all we'd need.

    •  That outcome has been on the table all along. (2+ / 0-)

The US currently isn't willing to accept any scenario in which Iran continues to enrich her own fuel.

      Hopefully that will change.

around Washington that developing countries can be leveraged into developing nuclear power (and the World Bank is o-so-ready to lend on it) while only a select group of "trusted nations (8 to 13, depending on who is writing the pitch) will be permitted to enrich or reprocess fuel.

The goal is part mercantilism, part control of world wide energy supplies, often wrapped up in a bright green ribbon of pretend concern about Global Warming.

Iran is, if there is any doubt, never on the list of "trusted nations" when this shit gets pitched.

has a horribly real ring of truth to it.

once again, i don't think it will fly, especially after fukedupshima.

that's the cognitive dissonance they hope we continue not to catch up on, that no-one will go to war for solar panels, no-one will have spend billions if a windfarm goes tits up.

the cat is almost all the way out the bag. it ain't goin' back!

            why? just kos..... *just cause*

        have to accept that.

As a signatory to the NPT, Iran has an absolutely unambiguous right to have all phases of a domestic nuclear power industry.

        •  So did Iraq and Syria. Israel blew their reactors (0+ / 0-)

Israel doesn't care what the world thinks, or what international law or treaties apply.

If Israel allows any Muslim nation to run nuclear reactors, then Israel can expect to receive 'dirty' bombs at some point that will quickly make their tiny nation a ghost town.

That is how Israel views nuclear energy in Muslim nations, and this is why Israel just goes in and blows up any Muslim nuclear reactor or enrichment facility.

They have sworn to destroy Iran's enrichment capacity, and this recent attempt at a Syrian war was the perfect opportunity to do it.

If we had bombed Syria two weeks ago, on the excuse of punishing them for use of chemical weapons, Hezbollah and Iran would have fired on Israel immediately. Israel would then have used tactical nukes on Iran's deeply buried enrichment factories (nothing else will even rattle them), and we would have war raging throughout the Middle East right now, with Russia and China ready to step in as well.

Israel wouldn't mind this at all. Any time, fellas. Any time.

          •  IMO this is a completely false statement: (0+ / 0-)

There is quite simply absolutely no factual basis for it.
      •  Iran will never be permitted to run reactors. (0+ / 0-)

Israel won't accept it for fear of 'dirty' bombs, and America will support Israel in this.

        •  Iran is running on research and one commercial (0+ / 0-)

          right now.

Even the US has conceded to them running reactors, as long as they let Russia or some other "trusted nation" do all the enrichment.
