    Today my daughter saw the man in the moon for the very first time. She's 10. We kept looking, but until tonight she could never see the face. I'm going to show this to her tomorrow. Thanks H!

    •  I Never Saw It In Early Childhood. When a Young (4+ / 0-)

      teen we got a trailerable sailboat and occasionally went out summer evening/night sailing on Lake Erie off the near west side of Cleveland.

      The moon would rise blood-red thru the steel mill and oil refinery haze of the Flats, with enough fine detail filtered out that the overall face was obvious.

      From 9 or 9:30 to around 10 on a quiet night, it'd go dead calm, till the land cooled below the warmer lake temperature and the gentle land breeze would blow up from shore with its alien scent of factories, mowed lawns, trees & flowers.
