  •  When we bought our house, there was (6+ / 0-)

truly hideous silver, green, and bronze shiny wallpaper on one wall and all over the main floor bathroom. It was GHASTLY. It went bye-bye ASAP.

    •  I had a bathroom that was 4 X 6 inch pink (6+ / 0-)

plastic tile, with swirlies of black and grey in the pink.  I really wanted to take it out, but it was everywhere, even on the ceiling.  I decided to enhance the retro look of the bath and put up some black plaster angel fish with the bubbles rising.

Once I removed just enough of them to get to the plumbing, so a leak could be repaired.  They were fragile, with forty year old glue holding them on.  I carefully laid them out on a towel so they could go back exactly as they had been taken out.

The plumber did me no favor when he stacked them up for me.  I had to match the glue patterns on the back to exactly replace the 35+ tiles.  If they didn't match exactly, they wouldn't lay flat.  While I was at it I made sure that the next time they could come out as a unit on a board.

Cleaning tiles on the ceiling involved windex and safety glasses.
