    who taught classes involving Middle East history telling us that, despite how the Jordanian royal family is viewed in the US, they're not viewed quite as positively in Jordan.

    Partly because we installed them.

        But even worse, it's a brutal police state that was installed by western leaders.

        Which is about par for the course for foreign leaders we in the west support in former colonies, unfortunately.

        I remember him actually saying that during the time he spent in Jordan, he heard quite a few people say they expected a large-scale uprising sometime in the near future.  I believe the specific quote he told us was "It started with an Abdullah, and it will end with an Abdullah."

        May be a bit optimistic, but I think it gives a good idea of how many in Jordan view their ruler.
