Watch out pasco2c, you let out the dirty little secret -- the "starvation" bill reduces total SNAP spending by a gigantic 5%! Oh noooeess!! People will starve!!!

      just like the sequester.

There are real consequences for real people.

5% less food per day means 100 calories off a 2,000 calorie diet -- which will make a person lose a pound a month, or 12 pounds a year. For some people, that may be called a diet. For some, especially frail elderly, it's weight off an already lean frame.

    •  There's no dirty secret, just your cluelessness. (0+ / 0-)

A five percent reduction does not mean everyone's food stamps are being cut five percent (which would still be a bad thing).  Instead, the eligibility requirements are being changed such that some would lose benefits entirely.  That's serious and hardly deserves your mockery.

Is anyone stupid enough to call this proposal a "food stamp starvation bill."

        •  Yeah, right up there with anyone who uses "what" (0+ / 0-)

          to refer to a person.
Tell me, since you're all twisted up over the turn of phrase used by the diarist, where are your scathing comments directed at the GOP House when the passed the first half of this bill a few weeks ago, maintaining all the massive subsidies for agri-business?  Let's see, your valuable contributions here include defending Zimmerman, standing up for Rick Perry, being anti-labor, and believing that the ACA should (and would) be ruled unconstitutional.  Apparently only liberals or progressives and their policies, beliefs, or attitudes get you upset.  Why is that, exactly?

          •  I would abolish all agri-business subsidies (0+ / 0-)

Again, the simple point is that it's pure hysteria to refer to a 5% reduction in total SNAP payments as "starvation."
