"But see! Chicago got tougher gun laws than Podunk, Kansas which don't have shootings! I done told you that them there gun laws don't work!"

"If this Studebaker had anymore Atomic Space-Age Style, you'd have to be an astronaut with a geiger counter!"

Chicago has been taken over by a single Mexican drug cartel.  Street suppliers are fighting each other for territory cuz prices are controlled, no free market forces.

The war on drugs has come to Chicago with a vengeance, and no one's talking about it.

Make drugs legal and the slaughter ends.

I'm not looking for a love that will lift me up and carry me away. A love that will stroll alongside and make a few amusing comments will suffice.

I live in Louisiana, which has some of the more relaxed gun laws in the US. We are also home to the largest gun murders per 100,00 people, IIRC, as a state. Whereas California, who has the most strict gun laws, are middle of the pack when you divide their gun murders per 100,000 people (IMO, this is fair to try and control for population differences; California has 9 times the population of Louisiana, but only about 4 times as many gun murders).

To me, this means that guns are just a tool in crime. It is not a cause or motive, just a means.

I know your comment was snark, but someone in my work circle said your statement honestly.

And if the story of the motive is true and this is gang-initiation related, gun control wouldn't stop a crime. It would potentially stop a tragedy, but someone, either random citizen or rival gang-member, would still be beaten-up/stabbed/potentially maimed in a gang-related initiation ritual.
